  • Glucomannan: A powerful water-soluble natural dietary fiber derived from konjac root (Amorphophallus konjac). Glucomannan delays stomach emptying, leading to a more gradual absorption of dietary sugar; this effect can reduce the elevation of blood sugar levels that is typical after a meal. Controlled studies have found that after-meal blood sugar levels are lower in people with diabetes given glucomannan in their food, and overall diabetic control is improved with glucomannan-enriched diets according to preliminary and controlled trials. One preliminary report suggested that glucomannan may also be helpful in pregnancy-related diabetes. Glucomannan has dramatic effects on bodyweight by occupying space in users stomachs. Concurrent findings indicate that when Fibersol-2 improves carbohydrate metabolism, this affects serum cholesterol levels. “It has been shown that Fibersol-2 lowered total cholesterol levels by lowering LDL-cholesterol levels without a change in HDL-cholesterol levels,” “Furthermore, ingestion of Fibersol-2 lowered serum triglyceride levels in both healthy (control) adults and Type II diabetes patients.”
